My name is Kavi Devulapalli and I’m an early career interventional radiologist practicing in the US.

So why LineMonkey MD?

In fellowship I did a bunch of cool cases, but I also did an equal amount of not so cool cases.  We placed a lot of central lines of various types. While these procedures were extremely important in the care of patients, they become somewhat mindless and routine. Hence, it is was easy for a trainee such as myself to feel like a “Line Monkey.”

I don’t think feeling like a monkey is necessarily unique to interventional radiology. Every field of medicine has some component of a mindless routine. I think this phrase also applies to other aspects in the lives of physicians. It’s easy to feel like a cog in the healthcare wheel. This is something I’ve personally felt since my early days training at big academic medical centers. I seek to empower physicians and what better way to do so than writing about my own experiences, failures and successes. The primary goal of this blog is to guide the next generation of interventional radiologists in their professional endeavors. You will have the benefits from learning from both my successes and failures which I will document here. Additionally, the secondary goals of this site are to explore topics including personal finance, entrepreneurship, and exploring the highs and lows of being a new physician. Ultimately, I hope this blog will serve as a guide to future physicians, physicians in training and other early career physicians such as myself. This blog will hopefully grow with me as I continue to make strides in my career.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you find the content of this site enjoyable and more importantly, useful.
